An Al Jazeera panel at the United Nations General Assembly in New York examines Qatar’s role as a mediator in regional and global conflicts following the speech by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Experts Nayef Al Nabet and Salman Shaikh discuss Qatar’s diplomatic efforts involving Gaza, Iran and Ukraine, as well as the potential for progress on regional tensions.

Nayef Al Nabet highlights the importance of dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council, the United States and Iran, including efforts related to the Strait of Hormuz. Salman Shaikh discusses Qatar’s reputation as a trusted mediator and its involvement in conflicts and diplomatic requests beyond the Middle East, including Latin America, Africa and Ukraine.

The panel also examines the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the prospects for diplomatic breakthroughs during the UN General Assembly.
