The Ansar Allah Houthis say Sanaa International Airport in Yemen’s capital has been struck again, following repeated attacks since fighting escalated earlier this week when forces loyal to the internationally recognised Yemeni government launched an operation to recapture Houthi-controlled areas. Heavy fighting has also been reported in Taiz, near the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait, with the Yemeni government releasing footage it says shows air strikes on Houthi positions. The Houthis have claimed responsibility for four operations in less than 24 hours, targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, two Saudi Aramco facilities in eastern Saudi Arabia and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree says the attacks disrupted air traffic and caused a fire at an Aramco refinery. The group has warned of further strikes on Saudi airports, saying it will respond to attacks on Sanaa International Airport by targeting King Khalid Airport in retaliation for what it describes as Saudi Arabia’s blockade of Yemen’s capital.
