Yemen’s Ansar Allah Houthis have declared Saudi airspace a “theatre of military operations” and are warning international airlines to stop flying into the kingdom.
It comes after Saudi Arabia confirmed the deaths of three foreign nationals in attacks at two separate international airports.
Wolfgang Pusztai, security and defence analyst and former Austrian defence attache, tells Al Jazeera Houthi attacks on Saudi airports aim to interrupt civilian flights and maximise the impact of limited long-range missiles.
