France has imposed nighttime curfews following violent protests, with authorities seeking to prevent large gatherings and restore calm.

Al Jazeera’s Natacha Butler reports from Place de la République in Paris, where young people and activists express frustration over the restrictions and police actions. Some say the curfews limit their right to gather and speak out, while one activist compares police tactics to those used against Palestinians.

The curfew runs from 11pm to 6am, with people who violate the restrictions facing a $150 fine. The measures have sparked debate over public order, police conduct and the right to protest.
