As the Supreme Court’s new term begins Monday, Associate Justice Samuel Alito confirmed to CBS News that he thinks about retirement “every term,” but that he thinks he “can still make a valuable contribution,” and that he’d reconsider every year.
CNN chief Supreme Court analyst Joan Biskupic breaks down Alito’s comments and addresses what may happen if Democrats gain control of the Senate in the 2026 midterm elections and if President Trump would have the opportunity to make a fourth nomination to the high court. She also examines public opinion of the Court and Trump’s attacks on justices.
